Hair loss has many causes, and the right treatment depends on which one you actually have. Androgenic alopecia (pattern hair loss) is genetic and progressive — it responds well to early, consistent treatment but cannot be fully reversed once advanced. Telogen effluvium (sudden shedding after illness, childbirth, or severe stress) is usually self-limiting and recovers with supportive care. Traction alopecia from tight hairstyles can recover if caught early. Scarring alopecias are a separate medical category and need dermatology referral. At Skin Essentials we assess which pattern you have before recommending any course.

The mainstay treatments here are PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injections and mesotherapy with growth-factor cocktails, often combined with topical or oral medications where clinically indicated. PRP draws your own blood, concentrates the platelets, and re-injects the growth factors into the scalp follicles. A typical course is 4–6 sessions spaced 3–4 weeks apart, with maintenance every 4–6 months. Results emerge gradually — most patients notice reduced shedding by session 2 and visible thickening by session 4. PRP works best for early-to-mid-stage androgenic alopecia; advanced hair loss with no remaining follicles needs a surgical transplant, which we'll be honest about if that applies.
